Mission:

At Lehigh Township Athletic Association, our Softball Program is dedicated to providing a positive, fun, and educational experience for young girls to learn and grow through the sport of softball. Our mission is to instill confidence, sportsmanship, and teamwork while teaching the fundamentals of the game in a supportive environment. We aim to inspire a love for softball, develop individual skills, and prepare players for future success on and off the field.​

League:

The Lehigh Township Athletic Association Softball Program competes in the Eastern PA Girls Softball League. This league allows players to engage in exciting games with other teams from local communities across the Lehigh Valley,

offering valuable competitive experience while fostering personal growth and teamwork.

8U

Eligibility: Players must be 8 years old or younger and cannot turn 9 before January 1st of the current year.

Program Overview:

  • The 8U team is designed for young athletes who are ready to learn basic softball skills and understand the structure of competitive play.

  • At this level, players are developing the fundamentals of the game, such as hitting, throwing, and fielding, and refine these skills in a game setting.

  • The season is structured around a mix of coach-pitch and player-pitch games. The primary goal is to improve individual skills while teaching the basics of game strategy, positioning, and sportsmanship.

  • In addition to fundamental skill development, the 8U team will focus on understanding the rules of the game, developing better teamwork, and becoming comfortable with the flow of a real game.

10U

Eligibility: Players must be 10 years old or younger and cannot turn 11 before January 1st of the current year.

Program Overview:

  • The 10U team is for players who have a grasp of the basic skills and are looking to build on their knowledge of softball. At this level, players will refine their hitting, fielding, and pitching skills while increasing their understanding of the game’s strategy and rules.

  • The 10U team plays in a more competitive environment, focusing on game situations that require players to make decisions in real time.

  • Players will be expected to pitch more often, and defensive plays become more advanced, focusing on proper fielding mechanics, positioning, and team defense. Offensive strategies like base running, bunting, and hitting to different parts of the field will be introduced.

  • Coaches will focus on developing well-rounded athletes who are prepared for the transition to more competitive levels of play.
