baseball

Mission:
LTAA’s baseball program is a comprehensive program providing opportunities for both recreational and competitive athletes. Children can begin to play baseball for LTAA as young as 5 years old, and continue within our programs up until age 17. LTAA cooperates with organizations in the Northampton Area School District to provide recreational and competitive opportunities suited to your child’s needs. Our mission is to develop baseball players for Northampton High School’s baseball team as well a develop fundamental skills, good sportsmanship, positive social interaction and a love of the nuances and intricacies of the game of baseball!
League:
The Lehigh Township Athletic Association Baseball Program competes in multiple leagues across the Lehigh Valley.
These include: Central Whitehall League, Lehigh Valley League, & Lehigh Valley Connie Mack League.

TBALL
Eligibility: Players must be 5–6 years old during the season.
Program Overview:

Introduces young players to the fundamentals of baseball in a fun, low-pressure environment.

Players hit off a tee and receive guidance directly from coaches on the field.
-
Teams typically practice twice per week before the season and play 1–2 games per week during the season.
-
Games are played against neighboring organizations, with Spring and Fall seasons offered.

Grasshopper
Eligibility: Players must be 7–8 years old during the season.
Program Overview:
-
Serves as a transition from T-Ball to instructional baseball with live pitching introduced.

Players begin pitching, with coaches stepping in when needed; outs, strikeouts, and walks are implemented.

Teams practice before the season & balance games with continued skill-focused practices during the season.
-
Spring and Fall leagues are offered, with games played against local neighboring organizations.

Biddy
Eligibility: Players must be 9-10 years old during the season.
Program Overview:

Introduces a more traditional baseball experience with umpires and no coaches on the field.
-
Players develop stronger fundamentals, increased game awareness, and competitive skills.
-
Teams practice 2–3 times per week and play 2–3 games per week during the season.
-
Two competition levels are offered through the Central Whitehall League and Lehigh Valley Little Baseball League, with Spring and Fall seasons available.

Midget
Eligibility: Players must be 11-12 years old during the season.
Program Overview:

Removes prior restrictions, allowing leading and stealing bases for a more advanced game experience.
-
Emphasizes strategy, decision-making, and higher-level competition.
-
Teams practice frequently before the season and maintain a balance of games and practices during the season.

Participation is offered through Central Whitehall League or Lehigh Valley Little Baseball League, with Spring and Fall seasons as numbers allow.

Knee-Hi
Eligibility: Players must be 13-14 years old during the season.
Program Overview:

Serves as the final step before high school baseball, with base paths extended to 80 feet.

Games closely resemble high school baseball, featuring fewer runs and more refined play.
-
Focuses on advanced fundamentals, situational awareness, and team strategy.
-
Teams compete in either the Central Whitehall League or Lehigh Valley Little Baseball League during Spring and Fall seasons, as participation allows.

Jr. Connie Mack
Eligibility: Players must be 13-14 years old and may turn 15 before May 1 of the current season.
Program Overview:

Provides Summer baseball opportunities for players currently on or aspiring to make a JV roster.

Competes in the Lehigh Valley Connie Mack League.

Season runs from mid-May through late June or early July, depending on playoff advancement.
-
Emphasizes preparation for high school-level competition and continued player development.

Connie Mack
Eligibility: Players must be 15–17 years old during the season.
Program Overview:

Designed for student-athletes looking to continue skill development during the offseason.

Competes in a modified Lehigh Valley Connie Mack League with regional travel.
-
Teams usually play three games per week, with practices scheduled in between.
-
Focuses on refining fundamentals, maintaining game readiness, and preparing for the upcoming spring season.
